VERNON, B.C. — An early morning fire at Vernon’s Green Valley Motel is being investigated by the RCMP.
The fire started in one of the motel rooms on the third floor. By the time fire crews arrived on scene, a manager, who lives on site, had already extinguished the fire.
Fire chief Lawrie Skolrood said the flames were contained to the one suite.
“No one was hurt, but it could have been a lot worse,” said Skolrood.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and firefighters have now passed on the investigation to the RCMP.
The motel isn’t currently operational and was put up for sale last summer.
