BEACONSFIELD – A fledgling singer from Quebec has advanced to the next round of popular reality TV show The Voice.
Cheers filled a Beaconsfield bar as Brittany Kennell took to the stage during Tuesday night’s episode of the singing competition.
Along with her family and friends, Kennell held a viewing party to watch her battle round performance.
She belted out The Chain by Fleetwood Mac before her coach, Blake Shelton, chose her as the winner.
“It just feels so good to share the experience with everybody – with the fans, with family, with Montreal,” she told Global News.
“I went through the blinds and didn’t expect that to happen, and now to the battles and won that, so it’s just amazing to keep going in the show.”

Family and friends watched in awe, while Kennell’s mother appeared to be in a state of disbelief.
“It’s very exciting,” said Theresa Valentine, Kennell’s mother.
“I just saw my daughter on TV, on national television – it’s amazing, I’m so proud of her.”
Winning the battle round means Kennell will get to perform at least once more on the popular program.
The singer is in Montreal for two weeks to spend time with her family, but she’ll be keeping busy.
On Saturday, Kennell will be fulfilling one of her lifelong dreams: singing the national anthem at a Montreal Canadiens game.
“It’s definitely going to be a huge moment for me and just a great welcoming home,” she said.
“To be able to go there to sing the national anthem for the team I’ve loved since I was little – it’s just really amazing.”

Kennell will be also taking the stage at Le Belmont on March 31.
“It’ll be just original stuff, very intimate and just a meet and greet, so I can try to meet some of the fans here,” she said.
