Police investigate home invasion in Vernon

VERNON — Vernon RCMP are investigating a home invasion in the Bella Vista area on Saturday evening.

Police say they were called to a residence in the area around 4:45 p.m.

“An 83-year-old man phoned police to report that two men had entered his home and tied him to a chair,” said Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy in a news release.

Noseworthy says the men got away in a Winnebago after stealing numerous items from the house.

The homeowner managed to get himself free and call police; he was not injured.

“Police located the vehicle a short time later and stopped it. The 46-year-old male passenger and 50-year-old male driver tried to run from the vehicle but were arrested. They are being held to appear before the provincial court,” said Noseworthy.

She says their names are not yet being released.
