WINNIPEG – Regular season NHL action will resume in Winnipeg’s MTS Centre October 13th, with the Winnipeg Jets starting the 2012-2013 season at home against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The schedule for the reincarnated Jets’ second season in the NHL was released by the team Thursday morning. The season start is not certain, as the National Hockey League has yet to ink a collective bargaining deal with its employees, the National Hockey League Players’ Association. The current deal is set to expire September 15th.
But barring any labour disputes, the now-legendary “True North” chant will ring out in the downtown Winnipeg arena once again on Saturday, October 13th at 2 pm. The Jets will follow up that match with another home game against the Chicago Blackhawks October 16, the first ever regular season visit of Winnipeg superstar Jonathon Toews’ team to MTS Centre. The Jets then go on the road to Washington and Pittsburgh.
The hockey club released other features of the upcoming schedule in a news release Thursday:
