A 43-year-old man is facing a charge of attempted murder in northern Saskatchewan. At around 8 p.m. CT on Thursday, RCMP responded to a complaint of an injured man at a residence in La Ronge.

Officers arrived and found a 50-year-old man suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was taken to hospital with what were described as serious injuries.

The initial investigation has determined that an altercation took place inside the residence.

Shortly after the complaint was made, RCMP arrested a 43-year-old man without incident at a local residence.

RCMP say Elias Darryl Ballantyne will be charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He’s scheduled to appear in La Ronge provincial court on March 21.
