SASKATOON – Former Calgary Flame Theo Fleury will be part of Graham DeLaet’s celebrity exhibition golf match taking place this June at Dakota Dunes.
“I can’t envision a better way to give back to the Saskatchewan community than being a part of the Graham Slam Exhibition Match,” said Fleury in a statment.
“I’m sure the event will be a memorable experience for the players, spectators, and the charity – and I’m excited to play alongside Graham and the other celebrities and show them my golf game!”
Along with playing a round of golf, Fleury’s and his band, The Death Valley Rebels, will be the headliners for a live concert.
The Graham Slam will take place on June 20, followed later in the week by the SIGA Dakota Dunes Open, the only Saskatchewan stop on in the Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada schedule.
DeLaet said he is looking forward to hitting the links with one of his childhood idols.
“I was growing up when Theo was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 1987, won a Cup there in his rookie year, and I was hooked,” said DeLaet in a statement.
“I don’t think it’s any secret that they are my team, and it’s great that Theo will be a part of Graham Slam to represent my passion for hockey and the Flames.”
The other two celebrities taking part in the Graham Slam are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Proceeds from the Graham Slam will be used by the Graham and Rudy DeLaet Foundation to help improve children’s health and wellness across Saskatchewan.
