Anyone hoping 2016 would be the year Slide the City comes to Vancouver shouldn’t hold their breath.

Last year, the Utah-based company brought their giant water slide to the City of North Vancouver — the only city in the metro area to host an event. A section of Lonsdale Ave was shut down to make way for the 1000 ft water slide.

Months before last year’s August event, rumours swirled around whether the event would also be held in Vancouver.

This year, the event will be returning to North Vancouver for a two-day event on August 13 and 14.

However, organizers confirm there are no plans to set up the giant water slide on a Vancouver street.

“We will not be coming to the City of Vancouver in 2016. We had a very successful event in North Vancouver last year, and will be returning to the City of North Vancouver this summer,” said Rachel Thomas.
