Halifax Regional Police said they’re investigating a potential threat involving IMP Aerospace near the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
RCMP have ramped up their presence in and around the airport as the investigation, which Const. Dianne Woodworth confirmed is in its early stages, continues.
Police said they received third-hand information about a potential threat involving someone with connections to the airport community Thursday morning, though they could not elaborate on the nature of the threat.
HRP confirmed the threat was related to IMP Aerospace and Defence, which tweeted early Thursday morning that “due to unforeseen circumstances” all operations at the airport were suspended and the plant was closed.
A few hours later, IMP tweeted again, saying things had gone back to normal.
Police said a 48-year-old man from Dartmouth is being interviewed by investigators as police try to determine if the potential threat is valid.
