A Calgary man is warning fast-food lovers about what he thinks was a raw deal from a local Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Hassan Byram said he ate a few too many bites of a popcorn chicken meal he got from a northeast KFC, before he realized the chicken was raw.
“I ate a couple, until after realizing that they were really soft,” Bryam said. “And I opened it up and realized that they hadn’t been cooked.”
Bryam took the meal back to the fast-food restaurant.
“They were going to give me a refund… two large boxes of popcorn chicken that are freshly cooked, but I didn’t take it,” he said.
“I was grossed out. I didn’t want to eat no more.”
KFC Canada issued the following statement Tuesday:
“From what we understand this order did not meet KFC’s high standards or quality. At KFC food quality and safety is taken very seriously. We were disappointed to learn of this incident and our office will follow-up with the local franchise restaurant to ensure that procedures at the local restaurant are reviewed and being properly followed… Our records show this is an isolated incident.”
Alberta Health Services said people with concerns like Bryam’s should contact their health and safety team. “All food permitted facilities are required to operate in accordance with the Public Health Act and related Food Regulations. This includes ensuring food served is safe to consume, as served. Any individual who receives food that they do not believe is safe to eat can report that to AHS Environmental Public Health,” AHS said.
