Halifax Regional Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

The victim called police at around 2 a.m. Sunday to the 600-block of Parkland Drive.

“We received a call from a gentleman who said he’d been shot and upon arrival on his residence on Parkland Drive, we located a 60-year-old man who had a single gun shot wound,” said Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders.

The victim had been shot in the upper body and was treated by EHS paramedics on scene before being transported to hospital. Police confirm he is a resident of the building and was found inside his unit.

The Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit searched the area for suspects but did not locate anyone.

Officers with the HRP Forensic Identification Section and Integrated General Investigation Section were back on scene during daylight hours gathering evidence.

The investigation was in its early stages and investigators have not been able to interview the victim.

“We got some bare information at the beginning but since then, we have not been able to talk to him,” said Saunders.

Currently, police are looking for three suspects all described as white males. The first man was wearing a black hooded sweater with black pants, the second was wearing a black hooded sweater with grey pants and the third had a black winter jacket with fur on the hood, jeans and sneakers.

Police say they do not know if the victim and suspects know each other.
