TORONTO — A woman has been hit and killed by a dump truck in the city’s downtown core.
Toronto Paramedic Services says the woman was struck around 2:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Queen and Jarvis streets.
Police Const. Hugh Smith says the truck was heading southbound in the centre lane on Jarvis Street when the collision occurred.

Smith says that while it is still early in the investigation, witnesses have told officers that there was a green light for north-south traffic.
Smith says traffic in the southbound curb lane was stalled and the woman may have walked east between the cars to cross Jarvis Street when she was then struck.
The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified her and are in the process of notifying next of kin.
Smith says the truck driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.
The intersection was closed immediately after the collision as traffic reconstruction officers investigated. Smith says the roads should re-open by the evening rush hour.
