Nova Scotia university students held a peaceful sit-in at the office of Labour and Advanced Education Minister Kelly Regan on Thursday to ask the government to make education in the province more accessible.
Students picketed in the parking lot outside and sat inside in the hallway outside Regan’s office.

Hannah Kaya from the Canadian Federation of Students said they want the minister to pass legislation to reduce the cost of post-secondary education and mandate sexual assault policies on campuses.

“We’re asking that Minister Kelly Regan commit to making education more accessible and more affordable, so that includes reducing tuition fees, dropping debt [and] converting student loans to grants,” she said.
Students say they will stay at the offices until Regan listens to their demands.
