It’s taken two years and a lot of work, but Hospice Fredericton is almost ready.
Located just off Regent street on Churchill Row, the three-floor facility is in the final stages of construction.
“It’s been probably a larger project than we initially anticipated when we took possession of the building,” said Stephanie Golding, the facility’s director of operations.
Golding says being involved from the first stages has been a thrill, but she’s anxiously looking forward to opening the doors.
“It’s looking great,” she said. “It’s going to be a very comfortable space for both patients and families.”

The main floor provides the region with 10 beds, each in their own room. Every room is equipped with its own bathroom, mounted television, refrigerator and fireplace.
Up one flight of stairs is another floor of accommodations where families of patients are provided with their own rooms so they can remain close to their loved ones.
In addition to palliative care, an adult day centre is also located onsite.
Hospice Fredericton plans to hold a grand opening on March 29 and begin admitting patients and their families by mid-April.
