A woman is expected to make a full recovery after she was stabbed multiple times. The stabbing happened Saturday night in Weyakwin, Sask.

Mounties say they were called to a home just before midnight for a report of an aggravated assault.

Officers found a 22-year-old woman with numerous stab wounds to her body. She was first taken to Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert for treatment and later brought to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

Matthew Warren Lavallee, 26, was arrested and has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. He is scheduled to appear Monday in Prince Albert provincial court.

Police say Lavallee and the woman are known to each other.
