SASKATOON – City council is being asked to approve two new road interchanges in Saskatoon. One is at Highway 16 and Boychuck Drive, and the other at McOrmond Drive and Highway 5.
The city is hoping for $29-million from the Building Canada to help fund the Boychuck interchange.
However, the funding has not been approved yet by the federal government.

Ward 10 Coun. Zack Jeffries says the reasons for the projects go beyond traffic tie-ups.
“Not only do we have an issue of traffic flow and folks who are in exceptionally long back-ups, we have a significant issue of safety,” said Jeffries.
“When you have a vehicle that’s stopped, waiting to turn left on Highway 5 going onto McOrmond being passed by vehicles going 110 km/h, that creates exceptionally poor safety conditions.”
If the money doesn’t come through the city plans to use a combination of reserve funding and borrowing to build it.
