Saskatchewan election results 2016: Sask. Party wins Saskatoon Westview riding

David Buckingham of the Sask. Party has won the Saskatoon Westview riding with 3,866 votes beating out the NDP’s Cam Broten who got 3,634 votes.

Summary: NDP Leader and Saskatoon Massey Place MLA Cam Broten seeks re-election in the newly-named riding of Saskatoon Westview, which incorporates the Hampton Village, Dundonald and Westview neighbourhoods along with parts of Mayfair, Caswell Hill, Hudson Bay Park and Massey Place.

Boundaries: The riding is bordered by Hughes Drive on the west and Idylwyld Drive on the east. The north boundary runs east along Claypool Drive from Hughes Drive to Airport Drive and south to Circle Drive. It then continue south on Avenue I North to 38th Street West and east to Idylwyld Drive North. The south boundary runs west on 32nd Street West from Idylwyld Drive North to Avenue J North, north to 33rd Street West and west to Circle Drive. It then continues on Milton Street on the west side of Circle Drive west to Northumberland Avenue, north to Massey Drive, west to Matheson Drive, north to 33rd Street West, and west to Hughes Drive.

Last Election: Cam Broten won Saskatoon Massey Place with almost 54 per cent of the vote, followed by the Saskatchewan Party’s Fawad (Ali) Muzaffar with just over 43 per cent of the ballots cast.

History: The riding, first as Saskatoon Mount Royal, and then Saskatoon Massey Place, has always been held by the NDP – Eric Cline (1995-2007) and Broten (2007-present).
