I LOVE REGINA is a yearly celebration of everything YQR.
Residents’ coming together in civic pride was the brainchild of a mayor who saw something more in a city with just a so-so reputation. Mayor Pat Fiacco says, “There was a time, years ago, that people didn’t really say a lot about there community. I think things are different now. I think people will defend it, and even if things have to improve, I think they are able to say they need to be improved.”

With this years gathering, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new City Square. Regina Qu’Appelle Valley MLA, Laura Ross says, “This is an absolutely wonderful venue for people to come down town and experience cultural events, but also it is an enhancement to this city.”
City Square has been finished for nearly a year and been home to farmers markets, folk fests, and now, the setting for the 12th year of the I LOVE REGINA celebration.
While the event was Fiacco’s idea, he hopes it won’t end when he leaves the mayor’s chair this fall. “I think that I will still be attending all the I LOVE REGINA events as a proud citizen of this city and support it as much as I can.”
