Homicide unit investigating after body found in north Edmonton

EDMONTON – An investigation is underway after a body was discovered behind a dumpster outside the O’Leary Fitness and Leisure Centre at 88th street and 132 Ave.

The homicide unit is leading what’s currently being called a suspicious death investigation.

Police received a call at around 9:45 a.m. Saturday about a suspicious male at O’Leary. When they arrived at the scene, they found a deceased male. Police are not revealing the victim’s identity or age.

The front lawn by the pool and Archbishop O’Leary high school was now cordoned off on Saturday, while the O’Leary pool remained open.

An autopsy has been scheduled for early next week.

If the death is deemed a homicide, it would be our city’s 10th one this year.
