Winnipeg police officer arrested, facing theft charges

WINNIPEG — A two-year member of the Winnipeg Police Service faces multiple theft charges after an internal investigation.

In a news release Friday, the Winnipeg Police said its Professional Standards Unit began investigating the officer after hearing of a number of internal thefts.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place over the past few months. Friday’s news release did not state what was being stolen.

A 25-year-old man was arrested as a result of the investigation.

He was released on a promise to appear and placed on administrative leave.
