Police say 24-year-old man died after drinking antifreeze in Labrador

HOPEDALE, N.L. – Police in Labrador say one man is dead after drinking antifreeze.

The RCMP went to a home in Hopedale on Sunday after fielding a report from a local medical clinic that two men were consuming the fluid.

Investigators found two men aged 24 and 55 in need of medical help and later concluded they were knowingly drinking antifreeze.

The men were flown to St. John’s, N.L., for medical attention and on Wednesday, the 24-year-old man died.

The second man is still in hospital.

Police did not identify the men.
