The mayor is scheduled to meet with 11 studios including CBS, Paramount, Sony and Warner to encourage them to expand their presence in Toronto.

“Toronto’s film and television sector is a growing source of jobs and economic growth,” said Mayor Tory. “I will be promoting our city to studios and entertainment industry representatives in Los Angeles as part of our efforts to attract more of these productions to Toronto.”

It’s estimated the film, television and digital media sector contributes more than $1 billion to the local economy and employs more than 25,000 people.

Tory is also slated to have a meeting with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and a networking reception is scheduled between Toronto and Los Angeles screen industry representatives.

The Toronto mayor will also be attending the annual “An Evening with Canada’s Stars” event celebrating Canadian excellence in the entertainment industry.
