Kelowna Fire Department rescues rope climber

KELOWNA–A climber stuck on a rock ledge in Woodhaven Regional Park was rescued by theKelowna Fire Department’s Technical Rope Rescue team Saturday evening.

It happened at about 3:20 p.m. at the end of Steele Road in the upper Mission.

The climber was stuck about 150 feet from the top of a rock face.

Kelowna Fire Department members lowered a rescue climber to the victim and placed a harness around the stranded climber.  They were both lowered to the canyon floor and escorted out by RCMP.

The Kelowna Fire Department is reminding outdoor enthusiasts to always let someone know when you’re venturing out.
