Flightless Penticton bird needs to hitch a ride to Burnaby

PENTICTON – The bird can’t fly to its destination so it requires some human help to get there.

A lethargic scaup, which is a type of duck, was found sitting in the garden of a Penticton house.

The residents brought it inside where the duck has been swimming in the bathtub.

Wildlife Rescue wants to treat the scaup at its hospital in Burnaby but none of its regular volunteer drivers are available.

So the agency is looking for someone who is driving to the Lower Mainland from Penticton this weekend to share the ride with the injured bird.

No special animal-handling skills are required and Wildlife Rescue will provide instructions.
