EDMONTON — Federal infrastructure minister Amarjeet Sohi appeared to wipe a tear from his eye following a tribute to his late father by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Tuesday.
The prime minister made a short speech in the House of Commons to honour Sohi’s father, who passed away Monday night at the age of 101.
“Despite his age, he was enthusiastically knocking doors with his son during the election campaign because he knew that his passionate, dedicated, extraordinary son had much to offer to all Canadians,” Trudeau said.
“Since being sworn in, the honourable minister of infrastructure has been working tirelessly on behalf of Canadians from coast to coast to coast and I’m certain the members of this house would agree that the minister’s father would be extremely proud of his accomplishments.”
Sohi was sitting right behind Trudeau when he made the comments. The prime minister added his thoughts and prayers are with Sohi and his family during this time.
