Opening of first phase of South Calgary hospital delayed again

Alberta’s Infrastructure Minister says the first clinics at the new South Calgary hospital will not open until the fall.

Wayne Drysdale says projections for a summer opening may have been overly optimistic.

The first phase includes neurosciences and academic family medicine clinics.

Alberta Health Services confirms that while it expects staff to start moving into the facility in July, it won’t be opening for a couple of months after that.

AHS is still aiming to open the hospital’s emergency room this winter.
