Dr. Dre slated to star in Apple’s first scripted TV show

Apple is making its own TV show, and legendary rapper Dr. Dre is reportedly set to produce and star in it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 50-year-old rap star is helping craft his own six-episode show, dubbed Vital Signs, and the production is being paid for by Apple.

Other notable names attached to the project include actor Sam Rockwell and Murder in the First‘s Mo McCrae.

Sources who spoke to THR claim the series is semi-autobiographical, and contains plenty of drugs, violence and sex. As of this writing, Vital Signs is anticipated to be a half-hour show.

Veteran music video man Paul Hunter will direct Vital Signs, and Empire co-executive producer/writer Robert Munic was specifically chosen by Dr. Dre to write all six episodes. The first season’s episodes are expected to be released together for streaming and binge-watching.

Apple is being very mum about the project, and there is no anticipated premiere date at this time.
