OTTAWA – NDP Leader Tom Mulcair has written to supporters to take responsibility for the dismal results of the October election campaign.

He says he could have done a better job.

His letter follows the release of an interim report from a post-mortem working group which says the campaign failed to resound with voters.

Mulcair says the report provides a convincing summary of some of the specific lapses in the campaign’s preparation and execution.

NDP President Rebecca Blaikie has said many New Democrats believe the campaign lacked a strong, simple narrative.

A complete report is expected to be released in March, ahead of the party’s April convention, where the party will vote on Mulcair’s future as leader
