Government offices, businesses and schools across Nova Scotia closed up early on Monday as a winter storm began to make its way through the region.
Snow began early in the afternoon and the province is expected to see up to 35 centimetres by the time the storm is finished, according to Environment Canada.
Most school boards in the province closed early due to concerns the strong winds and snow will make driving dangerous. Many government offices, universities and businesses followed suit throughout the day.
Bay Ferries cancelled crossings between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia due to the weather.
A second winter system is expected to impact Newfoundland on Tuesday night and into Wednesday with additional snowfall and strong winds.
