Driver ticketed after striking a woman in marked crosswalk

A 21-year-old driver is facing charges today after striking a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk on Lacewood Drive.

Police say the collision happened just before 7 a.m. in the 0-100 block of Lacewood Dr., near Stoneybrook Court.

The car was turning left out of a parking lot and struck the 51-year-old woman walking in the crosswalk. She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries to her leg.

The 21-year-old male driver was given a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.
