TORONTO – Governor General of Canada David Johnston is presiding over the Order of Canada ceremony on Friday.
The Governor General, who is chancellor and Principal Companion of the Order, will honour 22 members, 21 officers and one companion.

The ceremony is taking place in Ottawa’s Rideau Hall at 10:30 a.m. ET:
The Order of Canada was created in 1967, during Canada’s centennial year, to recognize a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. More than 5,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order since its creation.
