TORONTO — An 88-year-old woman has been killed after police say her car struck a vehicle, hit a curb and went airborne and then slammed into the side of a house in west-end Toronto.
Const. Clint Stibbe with traffic services says the woman’s car did not crash through the wall of the house after hitting a SUV but did break some bricks in the collision around 10:30 Monday morning near Kipling Avenue and Birmingham Street.
He says the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramedics say a woman in her 20s who was driving the SUV was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Stibbe says speed was likely a factor in the crash, but says other factors including mechanical failure and medical incident are also being investigated.
