WATCH: Members of North Shore Rescue were called out when a snowboarder disappeared after going out of bounds at Cypress Mountain. During the search, crews discovered a pair of lost skiers. But when they found the boarder, he was already dead. Kristen Robinson reports – Jan 30, 2016

WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. – A 40-year-old snowboarder missing on Cypress Mountain was found dead by North Shore Rescue this morning.

Team leader Mike Danks says the Surrey man was supposed to be back by 2:30 p.m. Friday, but never returned.

He was with another person on the west side of the mountain in West Vancouver, but wandered off the trail. His body was later found off Mt. Strachan near Montizambert Creek, at the base of a waterfall at the bottom of a 300-foot-cliff.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Crews also responded to a second call Friday night for a group of missing skiers, also below the Howe Sound Crest route.

Rescue crews established cell phone contact and the skiers were escorted off the mountain safely.
