Haligonians looking to hone their lumberjack skills are in luck, as the city’s first axe lounge is opening soon.

The Timber Lounge is bringing the art of axe throwing indoors in the next few months, and it’s bound to be just thing for axe wielding – and craft beer – enthusiasts.

Darren Hudson from Wild Axe Productions is the lounge’s owner and a world champion lumberjack himself. He says it’s time for Halifax to tap into its inner lumberjack.

“The timber lounge is a social and lumberjack professional hub where people can come in an experience what it is, the thrill of axe throwing,” Hudson told Global News.

“Axe throwing is a way to relax, way to socialize, a way to meet new people and enjoy a thrilling and engaging new sport.”

Place to unwind

The new lounge will feature a music stage and bar, which will sell local food and locally crafted brews and probably lots of plaid. But have no fear, safety is top priority.

“We will have our instructors, our qualified lumberjack professionals, to safely and comprehensively teach you and immerse you into lumberjack culture.”

The venue is set to open in the spring, and Hudson is already looking forward to it being a hot spot for people looking for a hip new place to hang out.

“I mean it’s a place to unwind after a long day’s work, come in, see friends, sit and enjoy the Timber Lounge.”

In case you were wondering if you have what it takes to be a lumberjack, Hudson says almost anyone can take a swing at the art.

Look for your chance to try your lumberjack skills this coming spring on Agricola Street.
