The Hulbert Block was constructed in 1912. The three-storey, brick clad, Edwardian commercial building is a”very strong example of this style of architecture,” the city said.
“Each of these historic designations emphasizes the rich history of our city and the importance of keeping that history alive,” Scott Ashe, principal heritage planner, said.

The building is important because of its connection to the early development of Strathcona, which dates back to the arrival of the railway in 1892.
The City’s Historic Resource Management Plan has 24 policies and 88 action items that determine how Edmonton’s heritage should be preserved and celebrated.
