BURLINGTON, ONT., – Canada’s fleet of 85 military Griffon helicopters is getting a $10-million overhaul of its infrared and night vision surveillance sensors.
A Burlington, Ont., company has been awarded the three-year maintenance contract by the Canadian Forces.

L-3 WESCAM will repair and overhaul the night-vision cameras, high-definition video cameras and infrared sensors on the CH-146 Griffons, which helped the helicopter fleet provide protection for Canadian Forces troop movements in Afghanistan.
The Griffons have been in service since 1995, but the current surveillance system was installed only in 2008.
L-3 WESCAM was also the prime contractor in that initial 2008 installation, a contract worth more than $25 million.
