WINNIPEG — While most of the southwestern part of the province had been under a Special Weather Statement for much of the day, Environment Canada has cancelled those and in its place, a freezing rain warning.
The warm front moving in will bring an area of freezing rain and snow into the overnight hours.
By the time we get to Wednesday morning it will be mixed with either rain or snow. Most of the areas in the warning zone could see one to two hours of freezing rain possible with icing.
The good news is that temperatures will rise above freezing on Wednesday which will help the melt. As the system moves eastward the precipitation will fall mainly as snow.
Snow will gradually move into the Parklands area close to midnight and then into the Interlake and Red River valley areas overnight. Some areas could see five to ten centimetres of snow.
This will make travelling conditions very poor Wednesday morning.
Winnipeg is looking at a couple of centimetres of snow falling tonight, with another five centimetres tomorrow mixed with rain.
Winds will also be gusting upwards of 60 km/h out of the northwest and visibility on the highways could be poor. Our high Wednesday is 2 C.
