CALGARY – The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) has revealed the principals of sixteen new schools set to open for the 2016-17 school year.

The principals, who take on their new roles in the beginning of April, will be tasked with hiring staff and preparing the school budget.

“Announcing the principals for our new schools is an exciting step toward their openings,” Chief Superintendent David Stevenson said in a Tuesday news release. “All of our new school principals have experience in this role and nine of them are currently working as principals in existing schools.”

The search for candidates to replace the nine principals already working in Calgary will start within the next couple of weeks, according to the CBE.

“Those schools will have a principal in place prior to their current principal leaving.”
