Police have one man in custody after a traffic stop led officers to the discovery of two bodies at a Barrie, Ont. home early Tuesday morning.

Barrie police say a vehicle was seen parked around 2 a.m. by an Ontario Provincial Police officer on Highway 26 in Springwater Township with its four-way flashers on.

Authorities say the male driver took off after the officer attempted to speak with him.

A police pursuit ensued on eastbound Highway 26 to southbound Highway 27 in Barrie that was later called off due to safety concerns.

Police say a background check on the driver’s address led police to a home where they located two deceased males.

Investigators say a third man who lived at the location was found by police in Shanty Bay and arrested.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation and police say there are no concerns for public safety.

The identities of both victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Any information pertaining to this investigation can be forwarded to the Barrie Police Homicide Unit at 705-725-7025 Ext 2160 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
