Historical sex assault case back in court

LETHBRIDGE- A historical southern Alberta sex assault case was back before the courts Monday.

Michael Charles Chute, a 56-year-old Halifax man, is accused of sexually assaulting three young girls in Lethbridge over a decade ago.

His lawyer, Greg White, said his client is back in Nova Scotia and they’re trying to get a note from a doctor before they proceed. No further details were given on what kind of letter is being sought.

In June, Chute was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching in a case dating back to 2004.

His next court date is set for Feb. 22.
