Nicholas Rasberry agrees to forfeit portion of cash bail

CALGARY – A man convicted of the manslaughter death of a Calgary teacher has agreed to forfeit some of his bail money.

Nicholas Rasberry was convicted of manslaughter in the death of Craig Kelloway in October, and has since been accused of breaching conditions of his bail by drinking alcohol the day before he was sentenced in Dec. 2015.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 10, Rasberry was pulled over at a check stop. He received a 24-hour licence suspension.

The prosecution and defence made a joint submission Friday to have Rasberry forfeit $7,500 cash of the $60,000 he had posted.

The joint submission spares Rasberry’s grandmother from potentially losing up to $250,000 she posted with her home.

The breach charge remains before the courts.
