Video released by Swedish police on Thursday shows a woman assaulted by a man after she stopped him from robbing an elderly woman.
The footage shows the elderly woman reach into her bag to pick up her phone. A man reaches into her bag from behind.
The woman, who was with her two young children, intervenes by pushing the suspect’s hand out of the elderly woman’s bag. The suspect hits her in the face.

The woman appears to shout at the man, who returns to punch and kick her in the stomach. She quickly gathers her children and the man returns to spit on her before fleeing.
The incident, which took place earlier this month in Stockholm, quickly drew the public’s attention and police announced Friday morning that a suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted aggravated theft and assault.
In an interview with local newspaper Aftonbladet, the woman said she was shocked by the incident but wouldn’t hesitate to intervene again.
