Man, 50, dies after fall at Edmonton steel plant

EDMONTON — Occupational Health and Safety is investigating after a worker fell off a tank and died at an Edmonton steel plant earlier this week.

The workplace accident happened at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at CESSCO Fabrication and Engineering Ltd. in south Edmonton.

OHS said a 50-year-old man died after falling nearly nine metres at the site. He was on a tank doing some welding work when he fell, OHS said.

According to its website, CESSCO Fabrication and Engineering Ltd. Designs and manufactures pressure vessels, produces heavy custom fabrications and performs steel plate forming and heavy machining for customers across western Canada and North America.
