BEAVERDELL – The investigation by the Kelowna RCMP’s Prolific Offender Suppression Team started in early December.
It lead to search warrants being executed last week at a rural property in Beaverdell where officers seized stolen items collectively valued at more than $100.000.
They include an excavator and dump truck stolen from Surrey and a pickup truck and travel trailer stolen from Kelowna.
A man at the site Wednesday, who refused to give his name, says he was checking on the property at the request of the owner who apparently lives in the Lower Mainland.
“He got taken advantage of by people who were staying on the property and others living in the area. They dropped things off here because there was nobody here and they just used it as a dumping ground. He tried to tried to get rid of the stuff but got muscled. He’s a good guy with no criminal record.”
Four men and a woman from Kelowna were arrested as was a Beaverdell man.
They’ve since been released and no charges have yet been laid as police continue their investigation.
