Kelowna apartment complex evacuated

KELOWNA — Residents of a Kelowna apartment complex were forced to evacuate early Monday morning.

The alarm was pulled at the Gordon Drive complex at around 4 a.m. after a resident complained of smoke on the third floor.

“Upon arrival Fire crews started an extensive search for the source of the smoke,” says platoon captain Tim Light.

“Crews found the source of the smoke was a sauna on the first floor that had been burning into the wall space. The fire was extinguished and a search for extension was completed,” says Light.

There were no injuries.

One pet was taken into the care of emergency social services.
