Snowmobile driver rescued from icy Nashwaak River

A man has been rushed to hospital after being pulled from the icy Nashwaak River north of Fredericton.

Nashwaak Valley fire Chief Stephen Bliss says the man was trying to cross the river near Nashwaak Village when his machine went through the ice at around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Bliss says the man was clinging to the ice when firefighters arrived.

He says the man was conscious when he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Bliss says the ice along the Nashwaak River is too thin for people to be on.
