Truly an odd sight was captured by surveillance video at a Philadelphia gas station earlier this month.
It’s not every day you see a Buddhist monk in a fight with someone. You probably also won’t see someone driving a nice car committing robbery.
The video footage begins with what appears to be a newer model Ford Mustang parking at a gas station.
First, a man exits the vehicle and enters the store, and begins to browse. A few minutes later, a Buddhist monk dressed in a traditional orange robe also enters.
The 61-year-old monk uses the lottery machine when the suspect grabs the monk’s wallet and dashes out of the store.
The monk immediately takes off after the robber and chases him outside the store where cameras capture a scuffle as the monk is seen wrestling with the suspect.
The man appears to get away in his vehicle, reportedly taking with him $350 in the victim’s wallet according to a CBS Philadelphia report. Philadelphia police are still looking for the suspect.
