It is a topic that is bound to be discussed at business luncheons around Metro Vancouver.

The Surrey Board of Trade is upset its Vancouver cousin is thinking about a new name with a regional flare.

Surrey Board CEO Anita Huberman says they have learned the Vancouver Board of Trade wants to change its name to “The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.”

Huberman says as a large board of trade in the Greater Vancouver area, the Surrey Board of Trade is opposed to the change.

She adds the Vancouver Board of Trade does not speak on behalf of the region’s business community.

He says many businesses are members of more than one board or chamber of commerce.

Black says the name change is simply a reflection they have been a regional voice but not the regional voice for for many years.
