SASKATOON – Saskatoon’s first vehicle bridge went out with a bang on Sunday morning. Sixteen directional explosive charges were used to demolish the south half of the Traffic Bridge, with people on Twitter saying they heard the blast as far away as Stonebridge.
The Traffic Bridge, sometimes called the Victoria Street Bridge, is part of Saskatoon’s history. Built in 1907, it was a key factor in Nutana merging with Saskatoon and Riversdale to become a city.

The new bridge being built in its place will use parts of the demolished bridge, and is expected to be operational by October 2018.
How do you feel after seeing the end of the original Traffic Bridge? Sad to see it go? Excited for change?
