Controversial Time magazine cover, Are You Mom Enough?

Jamie Lynne Grumet, 26, appears on this month’s cover of Time magazine with her almost 4-year-old son Aram firmly latched to her breast.

Grumet is a supporter of “attachment parenting” a theory based on the notion that there are lifelong benefits to forming emotional bonds with children early.

Breastfed herself until the age of six, Grumet recalls her own experience. “It’s really warm. It’s like embracing your mother, like a hug. You feel comforted, nurtured and really, really loved,” Grumet tells the magazine.

According to the World Health Organization, all mothers can breastfeed provided they have accurate information, and the support of their family, the health care system and society at large.

They recommend all mothers to breastfeed until the age of two, along with appropriate foods.
