A more than century-old Saskatoon landmark has finished with a bang.
Half of the Traffic Bridge was demolished by an impressive 16 directional explosive charges at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday.
The debris field was expected to cover about 10 metres around the blast site, according to officials with the demolition company. As a precaution, a 250-metre radius zone was blocked off surrounding the bridge.

Pedestrians were allowed to watch the explosion from the Broadway Bridge. It’s far enough away that no safety equipment is needed, according to officials at the City of Saskatoon.
Road closures and detours can be expected from about 7:30 a.m. to around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
